Humayun Ahmed Life History and informetion

Who is Humayun Ahmed

Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi novelist, poet, and playwright who is considered one of the greatest Bengali writers of the 20th century. He was the first Bengali writer to become a best-selling author and the first Bangladeshi to win a national award for literature. In addition to being a writer, Ahmed was also a professor of Bengali literature at the University of Dhaka. He was known for infusing his books with colloquial Bengali speech instead of the formalized Bengali used by most authors, which gave his writing a unique flavor.

He was one of the most popular and prolific writers in Bengali literature, with his works being translated into over 30 languages. His novel Nari, published in 1972, was adapted into the Bengali film Nari, which holds the record for the longest-running film in Indian cinema. He was the first Bangladeshi author to have a film adapted from his work. (more)
